Picture This:
- You were playing football and your opponent came on to you with a heavy tackle and broke one of your index finger, so you spent $500 on the medical expenses.
- In a major car accident, you lose the ability to use your legs and become wheel chair bounded. So what will be the impact on your job and financial situation?
These are just a few unfortunate situations in which a PA policy could be useful to see you through and give you more time to adjust to the new lifestyle and circumstances after an unfortunate accident.
How Much Personal Accident Insurance Coverage Do You Need?
You can take out a PA policy with coverage limits of S$100,000 to S$1,000,000.
Follow these three quick steps to get an idea of how big an umbrella you may need:
Step 1:
How much do you need in order to maintain your present lifestyle? And how much of it would you want to maintain after you lose the ability to bring in the income?
Add up your total monthly expenses and multiple by the percentage (Example: $5000 x 80% x 12months) you would like to maintain even after you lost the ability to bring in the income.
Step 2:
How many years would you like this replacement income to see you through?
Take the result of the above multiple by the number of years.(Example: $48,000 x 10 years)
Step 3:
How much is your shortage?
Take the above result ($480,000 less out total amount of insurance in force).
Please take note that life insurance / endorsement insurance / Unit link insurance will only pay out for total permanent disability
Example: $480,000 less $150,000 (your employee benefit – Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefit).
You shortfall is $330,000
If you don’t have protection that exceeds your replacement income, you owe it to yourself to consider a personal accident insurance policy.
For an affordable premium, you can protect yourself against a financial crisis.
We offer a range of low-cost personal accident plans to suit your needs. Review them all at a glance below to find out which one is right for you.
